The Rabindra Puri Foundation and Kathmandu University Sign a Final Agreement for a Bachelor of Heritage Conservation

A formal agreement has been reached between Kathmandu University and the Rabindra Puri Foundation to initiate a Bachelor of Heritage Conservation program. Through the combination of KU’s academic quality and RPF’s commitment to preserving Nepalese heritage, this cooperation seeks to promote heritage conservation education.
Mr. Rabindra Puri, on behalf of the RPF, and Prof. Dr. Manish Pokharel, dean of the school of engineering, signed the agreement. Through this partnership, a four-year program will be launched in 2024, with an initial intake of 20 students. Coursework, project work, thesis, and research will all be included in the curriculum, with a focus on real-world, hands-on learning in heritage-specific settings.

Members of the steering committee from both universities will oversee the program, guaranteeing excellent execution and high standards. Students’ abilities to preserve Nepal’s material and intangible cultural heritage—including its architecture, artwork, music, dance, and agriculture—will be cultivated as a result of this curriculum.
In addition to their commitment to providing the tools and assistance required to ensure the program’s success, KU and RPF also plan to look into scholarship opportunities to increase the program’s accessibility to higher education. This agreement is a big step in the right direction toward working together and educating people to preserve Nepal’s rich legacy.
