Kathmandu University and the Rabindra Puri Foundation have signed a definitive agreement to launch a Bachelor in Heritage Conservation program. This partnership aims to foster heritage conservation education, combining KU’s academic excellence with RPF’s dedication to preserving Nepalese heritage.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Manish Pokharel, Dean of the School of Engineering and Mr. Rabindra Puri, representing the RPF. This collaboration will introduce a four-year program starting with an intake of 20 students in 2024. The curriculum will cover coursework, project work, thesis, and research, with an emphasis on practical, on-site learning experiences in heritage-specific locations.
The Steering Committee overseeing the program will include members from both institutions, ensuring high standards and effective implementation. The program aims to develop students’ skills in conserving Nepal’s tangible and intangible heritage, such as architecture, art, music, dance, and agriculture.
Both KU and RPF are committed to providing the necessary resources and support to make this program successful, and they will explore scholarship options to make the education accessible to a broader audience. This agreement signifies a significant step toward preserving Nepal’s rich heritage through education and collaboration.
